Welcome to Semester 2! |
For Parents |
This year has gone by so quickly! Crazy to think we are 1/2 way through our 180 days. While the weather today feels more like spring as I write this, I know that there are more Iowa winter days to come. Be sure to always check your Google Classroom in the event we miss school and have an important assignment or test coming up!
Below you will find a list of where we are headed this semester in each of the classes. If there are any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact me! American History will cover WWI, the Great Depression, WWII, Civil Rights Movement, Cold War, and beyond if time allows. 8th Social Studies plans to start with learning about the Constitution, the 1st president, the Louisiana Purchase, westward expansion, Oregon Trail, Industrialization, and the events leading to the start of the Civil War. Psychology plans to repeat all of the topics from last semester with a new group of kids including research methods, parts of the brain, personality, psychological disorders, and more if time allows. |
I hope you enjoyed walking along side your child this 1st semester of learning in room 271. Below you will find a list of important dates for semester two.
As always, don't hesitate to contact me. I have frequently been sending e-mails out using the JMC portal which makes the messages come from WB Schools. Be sure to check the subject line for a "Social Studies" tagline to know it comes from me! Dates to know: February 14 from 4-8 PM -- Conferences March 23 -- End of Quarter 3 April 27 from 4-8 PM -- Conferences May 26 -- Last day of school (warranted no snow days occur!) |
Check this out...
The history channel offers an awesome resource each day called "Today in History". There are videos, articles, pictures and more for you to check out each day. You never know when knowing what happened today in history could earn you extra credit or a SOAR card in class. (Hint, hint. Nudge, nudge)
